A Visit From the Tooth Fairy

When my boys were little it was so much fun watching them put their tooth under the pillow for the Tooth Fairy.  For me, or their father, it was always a challenge to find that tiny little tooth under their pillow, in the dark, without disturbing them.  I was always afraid they'd wake and ask the dreaded question, "Mommy, what are you doing?"

I knew there had to be a better way for parents to tackle this challenge in a less stressful manner and create a more exciting adventure for children to make that special trade with the Tooth Fairy.

This canvas art is designed so your child can place their tooth in the small chiffon bag so the Tooth Fairy can easily find it during the night.   Two woodland fairies watch over the tooth until the Tooth Fairy arrives to make that magical exchange.

I really wish I had thought of this when my boys were small.

Welcome to Nellie and Ruth Designs.

What you'll see in this blog are my handmade creations that are featured in my shop at Etsy.  When I took a break from my blog - Reflections from the Tail - to create crafts for a craft show, I found how much I missed creating, so I decided to continue and start my shop.

Pearl Earrings

I love to buy necklaces from antique shops, take them apart and create new and more interesting jewelry.I recently purchased two necklaces from our local salvation army, tore them apart and am still deciding just how to use the beads. That's the fun part.

Necklace of blue stone beads, copper discs and brown glass beads

My mother was a big crafter of Christmas decorations. Recently we raided her attic for paper beads, small pearls and other findings she used many, many years ago.  I've created some interesting necklace using the paper beads I found in her attic.

Pink glass beads, silver charms, pearl beads & topaz crystals

I've learned a lot about displaying and photographing the jewelry I make.  It's all trial and error, however, the key is to have good images showing your product. Natural lighting is the best, so outside I go and now that winter is approaching I've learned I need to purchase a pair of fingerless gloves when shooting photos, and I know just the shop to purchase them on.

I hope you enjoy my wares, photos and are able to take the time to visit my shop at Etsy!
